WooCommerce to BigCommerce Migration
Move a UAE store from WooCommerce to BigCommerce. BigCommerce's free app moves the store data; we handle the content, the redirects, the Arabic storefront and the UAE payments it doesn't.
When BigCommerce is the right move
Stores usually look at BigCommerce when they sell B2B or carry a large catalogue, and want a hosted platform without assembling the store from many apps. Leaving WooCommerce also ends the plugin patching: Patchstack's 2026 report found 91% of WordPress-ecosystem vulnerabilities in plugins.
A note on the name: BigCommerce's parent company renamed itself Commerce.com in 2025. BigCommerce continues as the platform's brand, and that's the name we use here.
What BigCommerce's migration app covers
BigCommerce offers a free Data Migration app. BigCommerce says it moves products, customers and orders from WooCommerce, up to 500,000 records. For the core store data, that's a sound starting point, and we use it.
The app moves data. It doesn't decide what the new store should look like, check that everything arrived, or handle what sits outside the catalogue. We run it against a staging store, then reconcile the result: product counts, variants, prices, stock, customer records and order history, checked against WooCommerce before anyone signs off.
The rest of this page is the work the app leaves to you.
Plugins and integrations
WooCommerce stores tend to run on plugins: shipping, invoicing, product add-ons, loyalty, product feeds. We list every active plugin and decide what replaces it: a built-in BigCommerce feature, an app, custom code, or nothing. ERP, accounting and delivery integrations get the same treatment, and we test them on staging with real orders before launch.
Blog posts and CMS pages
WooCommerce runs on WordPress, so most stores also have a blog, landing pages and policy pages. The app is built for store data, so we move this content ourselves, with formatting, images and internal links intact.
If content drives a large share of your marketing, it can live in a headless CMS beside the store instead. Our WordPress to Sanity migration covers that route.
A complete redirect map
BigCommerce's help material indicates that its app creates redirects for products and categories. We confirm that per project rather than assume it, and we map everything else ourselves:
- blog posts and CMS pages
- tag, filter and search URLs that earn traffic
- old campaign and landing-page links
- anything a backlink points to
We build the map from your sitemap, analytics and backlinks, and test it on staging before launch.
An Arabic, right-to-left storefront
BigCommerce launched multi-language storefronts in August 2026. Its documentation doesn't cover right-to-left layouts, so an Arabic storefront takes custom work: either in the theme, or as a headless storefront built with Next.js. We confirm which per project, then check every page and the checkout in both languages.
UAE payments
Card payments are the straightforward part. Checkout.com is a native BigCommerce gateway, and the UAE is an eligible store country.
Buy now, pay later needs a deliberate plan:
- Tabby has no BigCommerce integration.
- Whether Tamara can run through Checkout.com on BigCommerce is something we confirm per project.
- We found no BigCommerce integration for Telr, PayTabs or Network International's N-Genius.
If BNPL drives a meaningful share of your orders, settle this before you commit to the platform, not after launch.
AED pricing, VAT and customer data
UAE law expects consumer prices to include 5% VAT (VAT Decree-Law, Article 38). We set the store up in AED, confirm how VAT-inclusive prices display on your BigCommerce setup per project, and check prices against real invoices before launch.
Moving customer records to a platform hosted outside the UAE is a cross-border transfer under the UAE's data protection law (PDPL). We check the data-processing terms with you and move only the customer data you still need.
How the migration runs
- Audit: catalogue, plugins, content, URLs, payment mix and integrations, and whether BigCommerce is the right fit.
- A staging store with the theme or headless storefront, AED pricing and payments set up.
- Data migration with BigCommerce's app, then reconciliation against WooCommerce.
- Content migration and the full redirect map.
- Arabic storefront and checkout testing in both languages.
- Cutover with a short freeze window and a final sync of orders and customers created since the first import, then close monitoring after launch.
When BigCommerce is the wrong choice
If Tabby is central to how your customers pay, Shopify is the simpler route today, because Tabby has a Shopify app. If you want to own your commerce logic and hosting outright, a custom stack fits better. Our ecommerce development team works across these options, and the audit at the start of every project includes the platform question. We'd rather settle it there than after launch.
We use BigCommerce's own migration app for products, customers and orders, then do the work that decides whether the new store succeeds: blog and CMS pages, a complete redirect map, an Arabic right-to-left storefront, and a payment setup that works in the UAE. That means Checkout.com for cards and a deliberate plan for buy now, pay later.

Checkout.com set up as a native gateway, and a deliberate plan for buy now, pay later.
How it runs
The same transparent shape every engagement follows — you always know where you are and what it costs.

Fair questions
Isn't BigCommerce's free migration app enough?
For products, customers and orders, it does much of the work. BigCommerce says the app handles up to 500,000 records. What it doesn't handle is the content, the full redirect map, the Arabic storefront and a payment setup for the UAE. That's the work we do.
Can we keep Tabby on BigCommerce?
Not today. Tabby has no BigCommerce integration. Checkout.com is native for cards. If BNPL matters to your store, we work through the options with you before you commit, including whether Tamara can run through Checkout.com, which we confirm per project.
Will we lose our rankings?
Not if the redirects are right. We confirm how BigCommerce's app handles product and category redirects, map every other URL that earns traffic or links, and test the full map on staging before launch.
Can BigCommerce run an Arabic storefront?
Yes, with custom work. BigCommerce launched multi-language storefronts in August 2026, but its documentation doesn't cover right-to-left layouts. We build the Arabic side as theme work or a headless storefront, and confirm which per project.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
It depends on catalogue size, how much content and order history moves, how many plugins need replacing, and whether Arabic and a headless storefront are in scope. We audit the store first, then give you a fixed scope.
Is BigCommerce now called Commerce.com?
The parent company renamed itself Commerce.com in 2025. BigCommerce continues as the platform's brand, so the store you migrate to is still BigCommerce.
